Also, in January = we will continue to work to obtain a second proposal to convert other priva= te daycare places. As usual, the government=E2=80=99s budget deposal is sch= eduled for next March 2021 and we are working on obtaining more daycare pla= ces to convert to subsidized places. The Ministry of Families wants this pi= lot project to succeed and be an indication of the future for non subsidize= d daycares. We are confident that the project to convert subsidized places = with non subsidized daycares should be very successful.=C2=A0 At the same time as this project, we have requested financial assistance to= help pay for fixed costs for our daycare network. La Coalition a r=C3=A9ussi =C3=A0 vous offrir, en collaboration avec l= e PACME, de la formation continue pour vous et vos =C3=A9quipes de travail.= Ces formations vous aideront =C3=A0 atteindre un niveau de qualit=C3=A9 da= ns votre service de garde.  Lorsque vous adh=C3=A9rez, vous avez l=E2= =80=99obligation de suivre un nombre minimum de formations, selon la quanti= t=C3=A9 de places que vous avez au permis. Vos =C3=A9ducatrices n=E2=80=99o= nt pas l=E2=80=99obligation de faire toutes les formations avant le 31 d=C3= =A9cembre. Following the announcement regarding new subsidized daycare places by = the Minister of Families, a certain number of you have suggested that we us= e pressure tactics to obtain equity. We are not against using pressure tact= ics but we feel we should wait till discussions with the ministry are close= d and that we have not obtained satisfaction. 
We will soon receive a proposal for the project regarding the conversion of= a number of private daycare places to subsidized places. Also, in January = we will continue to work to obtain a second proposal to convert other priva= te daycare places. As usual, the government’s budget deposal is sched= uled for next March 2021 and we are working on obtaining more daycare place= s to convert to subsidized places. The Ministry of Families wants this pilo= t project to succeed and be an indication of the future for non subsidized = daycares. We are confident that the project to convert subsidized places wi= th non subsidized daycares should be very successful. 
At the same time as this project, we have requested financial assistance to= help pay for fixed costs for our daycare network. We aim to create a real = partnership with the Ministère de la Famille before a total= network conversion.

Why not convert all non-subsi= dized daycares?

By now, you all know that we want to have the whole non subsidized day= care network converted. In reality this is much different. The Coalition ha= s now been working for the last 10 years to obtain equity for the families = in our daycares. No government would go ahead and convert all daycares in a= first phase. We proposed an initial conversion project to demonstrate the = benefits and to convince the government that this is a beneficial option fo= r Quebec families, even more during a pandemic. As you know this initial pr= oposal has been accepted by the government.

We have the means and the recommandations to help convert daycares in = all Quebec regions. We will require assistance from all of you to accomplis= h that goal. We will soon come back to you with recommendations in regards = to this process.

Request for fixed costs

We strongly suggests to ensure that your accountability and bookkeepin= g is up to date. It is important that each daycare has a clear picture of i= ts financial status. Because of the Covid 19 pandemic we have seen costs of= business operations increasing : loss of income, increase costs for payrol= l, increase costs of groceries, increase costs of sanitary products, increa= se in loans. In order to request financial assistance we will have to demon= strate increase fixed costs.

As yourself, we were very surprised to receive a tool from the Ministr= y of Families without basic explanations. The tool was developed to prepare= proposals for the bids to the Ministry of Families. If you would like to m= ake a proposal for one of the regions specified, you can use this tool. We = also think that the same tool will be used for the daycare conversion proje= cts. We should be able to confirm that soon.

The Coalition succeeded in collaborating with the PACME to= offer ongoing training to you and your staff. These training programs aim = to improve quality standards in your daycare. By joining, the daycare must = participate in a minimal amount of training sessions, based on your permit = numbers. Your educators do not have the obligation to participate in all th= e training sessions before December 31st. This training tool can be offered= to your staff as a reference. As management, this training program will he= lp you assist your team in improvements. We suggests that you act fast if y= ou would like to join up. There are a few places still available to registe= r « Cible Petite Enfance ». The subscriptions will end Friday O= ctober 16th.
